Ronnie
Ronnie is 10 years old. He lives in Germantown with his grandmom. He is a "homeschooler" - connecting with his teacher and classmates through the internet. Ron likes to play computer games when he is done with his homework. He loves sports and cars.
Alice
Alice also lives in Germantown - right around the corner from Ronnie and his grandmother. Alice is active with her church, and volunteers with many community projects. She is a baseball enthusiast and a member of an improvisational theater troupe.
Sharing a Love of Baseball...and Parades!
Alice and Ronnie met through Family Friends in 2007. Alice showed Ronnie her baseball memorabilia and told him about her favorite players. Ronnie showed Alice his online "school". Sometimes, they work through his assignments together. Alice helps Ronnie to remember that it's ok to ask questions and even make mistakes. That's how we learn. During Alice's visits each week, Ronnie's grandmother takes the opportunity to go to her room and rest. A favorite outing was sharing an adventure together. Ronnie and Alice took the train downtown to see the St. Patrick's Day Parade. What a day that was!
