Family Friends Kinship Support Program:

For grandparents and other relative caregivers who are raising children. We offer in-home respite provided by a Family Friends volunteer. An older adult volunteer is matched with a family to visit weekly for 2 hours per visit. The volunteer spends time with the children so that caregivers can “take a break”. A volunteer can go with the caregiver and children to the playground, a doctor’s visit or school meeting or even to the grocery store, to be a second set of hands and eyes with the children.

In addition, kinship caregivers are eligible for drop-off respite trips. Children ages 5 – 15 yrs can be registered for these Saturday outings, giving their grandparent/relative a day off. Trips have included destinations and activities such as the zoo, roller skating rink, bowling, and live theater/dance performances.
